Public Space Concept – Kings Cross, London

A large scale project, culturally diverse and rich in history, Kings Cross has recently been at the heart of an extensive redevelopment scheme.
Although both the Park & Square have been approached with contrasting design themes, they share the underlying goal of creating a social hub and bringing people from different ages and cultures together, all throughout the year.

As well as a rendezvous point, the Amphitheatre is designed to host screening events such as Wimbledon Tennis, football tournaments and classic movies.

The Park flows in different levels of tranquillity; the ‘Atrium Bridge’ provides a calm place to relax beneath the dappled shade while ‘The Quiet Space’ located at the furthest end offers a hideaway to retreat for peace & quiet.

Both areas are safely connected by the gently sloped underpass and are sunken for an enhanced sense of sanctuary.
